Break Out!

“A goal of every living creature is to break out of the box.”

From my first childhood drawing to my latest new business venture, I have loved creating, finding and sharing new ideas.

Looking back, I realize that I also spent many hours “stuck” battling the fears of expressing my ideas. With my dyslexia, I had achieved so many “C’s and D’s” in school that the little voice inside my mind became fond of saying “Now… don’t make a fool out of yourself.”

Later through adult successes and many “foolish” failures, I learned the power of a positive imagination. I use my imagination to:

• Be “curious first” when seeing a new idea (whether it’s mine, or someone else’s) and look for its possibilities.

• Be “critical second” so the vision of possibilities are still dancing in my head when I’m passing judgment.

• Put a smile on my face when I’m fearful to change my mood from frustration to acceptance and from anxiety to play.

I was embarrassed by my dyslexia and now realize that seeing differently is a gift. It provided me with the natural ability to transpose a naysayer’s “ha… ha’s” toward my new ideas into “Aha’s!” that have made all of the difference.

We all have our own “dyslexia” that can prevent us from chasing our dreams. Find yours, face yours, and free yourself from that box!

My passion is helping clients, communities, and countries find creative and effective solutions for really tough challenges.

Through the years I have formed a wonderful circle of “creatively collaborative” friends who love to share and build on ideas. My hope is that our stories will provide stimuli for solving those nagging challenges that keep us up at night.
